I can't stop this feelin'
Deep inside of me.
Girl you just don't realize
What you do to me.
Deep inside of me.
Girl you just don't realize
What you do to me.
When you hold me in your arms so tight
You let me know everything's alright.
You let me know everything's alright.
IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII'm...!
ed on a feelin'
I'm high on believin'
That you're in love with meeeeeee.
ed on a feelin'
I'm high on believin'
That you're in love with meeeeeee.

Lips are sweet as candy
The taste stays on my mind.
Girl, you keep me thirsty
For another cup of wine!
I got it bad for you, girl
But I don't need a cure.
I'll just stay addicted
And hope I can endure!
The taste stays on my mind.

All the good love, when we're all alone.
Keep it up, girl, yeah you turn me on.

'Hooked on a Feeling' isn't just a ridiculously catchy song that's likely to become the retro-earworm of the summer thanks to its placement in the Guardians movie. It's also a song that refuses to die, popping up again and again in the zeitgeist when you least expect it. It's the Highlander of pop music. That might sound like hyperbole, but consider the song's pedigree: it was written by Mark James, who also wrote 'Always on My Mind' for Elvis Presley, and originally recorded in 1968 by B.J. Thomas (who found cinematic immortality a year later when his version of 'Raindrops Keep Fallin' on My Head' showed up in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.)The version of the song that everyone knows isn't —it's Blue Swede, a Swedish (duh) pop group whose 1974 version incorporated the 'ooga-chaka' chanting we all know and love today. Fun fact: that chant first appeared in a by British producer and performer Jonathan King (he himself had 'borrowed' the chants from ).As great as the chants may be, they're not enough to guarantee the kind of recognition that the song enjoys. No, for that, we have to turn to two genuine 1990s phenomenons.
First was Quentin Tarantino's use of the song in 1992's Reservoir Dogs, the movie that launched a million. soundtrack CD sales (.conservative under-estimate). And then there was this. Yes, 'Hooked on a Feeling' was the soundtrack of Ally McBeal's dancing baby hallucinations throughout the show's 1997-2002 run. Why a song that once accompanied the CGI manifestation of a woman's anxiety disorder now accompanies the CGI manifestation of an alien raccoon, though, I can't say.Regardless, few songs have managed to connect Elvis, Robert Redford, Calista Flockhart, and a bleeding, swearing Tim Roth in a straight line. That we can now add Chris Pratt and the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe seals the deal. When it comes to the title of 'The Musical Equivalent of Kevin Bacon,' there can only be one winner, and it's already high on believing that you're in love with it.
